Coaching Staff

 

Tamara Jackson – Head Coach and Coaching Representative

Tamara has been with our club for 18 years as a coach. As Coaching Rep, she attends all executive board meetings and liaison between the coaches and executive. Her role as Head Coach involves direct/indirect supervision and mentorship of all other coaches as well as point of contact for members in regards to coaching questions or concerns. She is Intermediate STARSkate/Provincial Coach (ISPC) Trained and a STAR 1-5 Assessor. Tamara has achieved Gold in Dance, Senior Silver Skills, and Junior Silver Freeskate. She continues to test skills, as her goal is to achieve Gold in this discipline.

Kelsey Ungstad – Senior Program Assistant

Kelsey skated with our club from 2010-2012. After graduation, she has continued to volunteer her time as a Program Assistant with the CanSkate and PreCanSkate programs. She is continuing to test Dance and Skills, with the goal of achieving STAR 5 in both disciplines. Kelsey is working towards CanSkate certification within the year, and hopes to join us as a CanSkate coach next season.

Hannah Maton – CanSkate Coach In-Training

Hannah started skating with our club when she was two years old. She continues to skate in our STARSkate program and plans to continue until graduation. She has achieved STAR 5 in skills, STAR 3 in FreeSkate and is working on her STAR 7 dances. Hannah is looking forward to joining us as a CanSkate coach this season, as she has recently attained her first level of coach training.

Allan Carver – Dance Partner

Al has been a part of skating for many years. He was a member of the Royal Glenora Club from 1970-1973 and competed as a Novice at Canadians in 1971. He coached in Edmonton from 1979 to 1983, after which he became a dance partner for multiple clubs. Al travels from Edmonton once a month so our STARSkaters can practice their dances and be ready for high level tests.

Clyde Hammer – Free Skate Clinic Coach

Clyde coaches primarily out of Fliteway Figure Skating Club in Edmonton. He has trained numerous Sectional medalists and champions. He has coached skaters to five National Championships as well as Senior Competitive and extensive Gold test levels. Clyde completed the Seneca College Sports Program and has 26 years coaching experience. He is a certified National Coach (NCCP Level 3). Clyde travels from Edmonton once a month to provide our STARSkaters with semi-private and private lessons.
