Her role as Head Coach involves direct/indirect supervision and mentorship of all other coaches as well as point of contact for members in regards to coaching questions or concerns. She is Intermediate STARSkate/Provincial Coach (ISPC) Trained and a STAR 1-5 Assessor. Tamara has achieved Gold in Dance, Senior Silver Skills, and Junior Silver Freeskate. She continues to test skills, as her goal is to achieve Gold in this discipline.
Dianna Freh – CanSkate/PowerSkate Coach
Dianna has been part of the Athabasca Skating Club since 2016 and brings years of experience and enthusiasm to the ice. She first earned her CanSkate coaching certification in high school, where she discovered her passion for teaching the fundamentals of skating through Skate Canada’s flagship learn-to-skate program.
Dianna loves teaching CanSkate because it’s where skaters take their very first steps toward discovering the joy of skating. Watching their confidence grow as they master balance, control, and agility is incredibly rewarding. She strives to make every session fun, safe, and engaging, creating a positive experience that inspires a lifelong love of skating.
After taking a break, Dianna returned to coaching and recertified her CanSkate skills to meet current standards. She has since expanded her qualifications by becoming a PowerSkate Coach, working with hockey and ringette players to improve speed, agility, and power. Dianna finds it exciting and fun to watch PowerSkaters grow and improve—seeing their progress on the ice and how it translates into their game is one of the most rewarding parts of coaching.
Her goal is to create a supportive environment where skaters of all ages can learn, grow, and enjoy the sport.
