The Athabasca Skating Club is proudly run by a dedicated team of volunteers! Each member plays an important role in supporting our skaters, coaches, and programs.

We believe that many hands make light work, and by working together, we can make each role more manageable and rewarding.

Board of Directors:

President

Michelle Taite 

Provides leadership, oversees club operations, and works closely with coaches and board members to ensure the club runs smoothly.

Vice President

Vacant

Supports the President, coordinates ice scheduling, and assists with club operations and activities.

Treasurer

Renee Shymoniak

Manages club finances, including payments, deposits, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Secretary

Melanie Buchanan

Records meeting minutes, maintains club records, and assists with administrative responsibilities.

Test Chair

Angela Missler

Maintains STARSkate assessment records, submits results to Skate Canada, and helps coordinate testing opportunities.

Registrar

Works with the Board and coaches to coordinate skating programs, manage registration through Uplifter, and maintain accurate program information.

Communications

Michelle Taite

Manages club communications, website updates, social media, and announcements to keep members informed.

Club Coordinators & Representatives:

Fundraising Coordinator

Vacant

Organizes and coordinates fundraising activities throughout the skating season to support club programs and events.

CanSkate Elements Event Coordinator

Jocelyn Chernish

Leads the planning and organization of the club's local CanSkate and STARSkate competition, including coordinating volunteers and event activities.

Coaching Repsentative

Tamara Jackson

Acts as a liaison between the coaching team and the Board, sharing coaching updates, feedback, and information to support club programs.

CanSkate Representative

Diana Freh

 Acts as a liaison between CanSkate families, coaches, and the Board, helping support the CanSkate and Pre-CanSkate programs.
